Girl. Runner.
February 28, 2009
My Story
I started running in October 2007 as an attempt to drop some weight. I was fairly steady in my training until my cancer diagnosis on February 2008. That threw me completely off track and I took a hiatus until after my recovery from lap band surgery in July 2008. In September 2008, I started up the Couch to 5K program again with a vow to complete it this time. I never imagined that I would learn to love running through it. I now run on average 3-4 times a week with a goal to complete a half-marathon eventually if my body can handle it.
My Inspiration
Our running shoes are really erasers. Every step erases a memory of a past failure. Every mile brings us closer to a clean slate. Each foot-strike rubs away a word, a look, or an event that led us to believe that success was beyond our grasp.
