Grateful Friday

September 24, 2010

1. All the paperwork for the house is signed and in the title company’s hands. All we have to do know is wait for it to be funded and recorded with the county, then keys! Hopefully by Monday!

2. Bryan’s flight physical (for the 3rd time) is done and being sent up for approval. Hopefully he’ll be cleared to fly by the time he comes off of moving into the house leave.

3. That Texas has driver’s license exemptions for active duty military, because we found out that Bryan’s was expired today when he pulled it out at the title office…LOL!

4. We have scored some awesome deals for all the things we needed and some of the things we wanted for the house.

5. God and all his blessings, they are there even though my stress often times clouds my view.

1. What characteristic about yourself has either been strengthened or weakened due to your experience as a Military Spouse? (from The Albrecht Squad)

Well, I have never had much patience and what I did have has definitely diminished. I’ve always been independent, but I suppose military life had made that even more pronounced. I don’t really know…

2. What is your favorite vacation spot and why? (from ‘Tis the Life of the Army Wife)

Paris! I love the whole romantic, artsy, crowded atmosphere. I’d live there in a heartbeat if ever given the chance.

3. If you could have any fast-food restaurant in the food court on base/post what would you pick? (from The Only Pink in a House of Blue)

Chipotle, hands down.

4. Where did you go on your honeymoon?  (from Pennies from Heaven)

Ummm…Olive Garden…LOL! Bryan and I got married on a Saturday morning during tech school at the JP’s office. No family or friends around. We went to Olive Garden for lunch and then back to my room in billeting and well…

He had to be back in the dorms by 10pm (if I remember correctly) that night since he hadn’t phased up yet.

Such is life in the military sometimes ;).

5. If you could have any job in the world regardless of money, degree or experience, which job would you have and why? (from Proud to Be a Navy Family and The Calm Before The Storm)

I’d reopen my photography business, only in a cool, downtown studio location! Pictures are my passion and I would love to have dedicated space, working from home and balancing work and life is hard.

September 19, 2010

So,  I got a new toy.

Well, not so much a toy as a tool, but really it is more fun to call something a toy. A tool usually involves work and that isn’t always fun.

It’s all about the mindset :).

It’s one of these…

What is it you ask? Well, one of the coolest things ever in my geeky opinion. It is a Withings, a wirelessly connected scale.

Hop on and it sends the good or bad news to your computer instantly and spits it out in a neat little graph form.

Isn’t it purdy?

Those of you that follow, know that I have recently gained back a bit of my weight. Most of it I blame on stress, I had so much on my plate (no pun intended), that paying attention to what I ate was one thing that I didn’t want to deal with.

Go ahead, say it…dummy.

Dummy, dummy, dummy.

Sigh.

I’m back on plan though, staying within calorie goal 6 days a week with 1 “cheat” day. It is what worked before and I know it will work again.

Plus now I have my pretty new scale to give me a daily reminder, without the hassle of writing it all down and then putting it in the computer.

1. We escalated the “dragging of feet” issue even higher up the chain at USAA and there is now no good reason we won’t close on the 24th.

2. My new oncologist seems really nice and proactive.

3. Our realtor, she has been awesome through all of this.

4. New toys.

5. It’s not only Friday, but Bry’s Friday, so we can sleep late tomorrow AND got to bed at a human time.

1. How do you spend your deployment money, do you save, pay off bills or enjoy the extra money while it is there to buy the things you do not normally have? (from Troop Petrie)

We usually save it up for something at the end of the deployment/TDY. Once it was a new gaming laptop for Bryan, twice it was vacations and this last time it was our “house” savings since we knew we’d be buying as soon as he got back and we PCS’ed.

2. If you could relive one occasion or moment, what would it be? (from Currently On Land)

Probably the birth of Jacey…life was just so perfect and uncomplicated at that moment.

3. What’s the worst job you ever had and if it was so bad why did you take it? (from Faith and Deploying)

Honestly none. I have really enjoyed all the jobs that I have had. I did have one in college where my supervisor hated me and made it obvious but, I still loved th actual “job”.

4. If you could play any character on TV, who would you be?  (from Many Waters)

Ziva or Abby from NCIS. They kick butt!

5. If you could become the world’s expert in something, what would it be? (from Army of Two)

This is probably going to sound selfish, but leukemia. Specifically CLL. I’d like to know what my future holds instead of all the unknowns.

AWOL

September 13, 2010

Yes, it’s me Lacey.

No, I am not dead.

Yes, I miss you all too.

Sigh.

Life is crazy. Not sure I can put it any other way. We haven’t closed on the house yet and I spend about 3 hours a day in the truck taking J back and forth to school. She’s worth it, but it is getting old. I suppose I could blog from my phone, but that is a toal pain to type anything meaningful on and well, the only other “chunk” of time I spend on the computer is in the middle of the night (ahem, for example), when I should be sleeping.

I promise a better update.

Soon.

Just don’t go holding your breath, I’m not responsible for blue skin and goose eggs.
