an era has passed

June 28, 2008

1999 Chevrolet Malibu The old green POJ has been retired. Wednesday it decided to let Bryan down and break his trust. Bryan’s trusted that when he pushed on the brakes old green would stop. Well, old green didn’t stop and in turn, Bryan tapped the bumper of the vehicle in front of him at the base gate. Thankfully, he was only going about 3 mph and not 55mph with Jacey with him.

Old green has been showing his age for a while, but we kept trying to give him the benefit of the doubt that he could still be a good 2nd car. No more chances from us, not when you put our lives on the line. It was a slight bittersweet moment though, because old green was the first major purchase of our marriage.

So, we applied for a loan and started shopping. Thursday, we test drove 2 and looked on every major dealer lot here in FWB and the all the Crestview lots online. Friday, we test drove 3 more and the last one was a success!

It is a loaded 2008 Suzuki SX4 Crossover, I told Bryan, he was going to be lucky if I didn’t snag it and give him the Trailblazer…LOL! All the contracts are drawn up and as soon as the loan check gets here, we get to pick it up. I can’t wait, this few days of being a 1 car family has been difficult to say the least.

In all honesty though, we have decided that with gas prices the way they are, it is going to become our new run around vehicle…much more efficient than my truck. Also, whoever is driving further that day, will take it.

Since both vehicles are grey, I’d like to get matching personalized plate…any ideas? All I keep coming up with are cheesy like B&L 1/B&L 2 or the like.

PDA

June 28, 2008

a.k.a. public displays of affection

I for one, grew up believing that PDA’s were not acceptable at church. What do you think? Seems in today’s day and age anything goes!?

0624081004-00

LOL!

I was walking upstairs Tuesday at work when I was presented with this. Of course, me and my twisted mind ran back to my office to get my phone in hopes that they would still be there when I got back. Lo and behold, they were so *into* each other that they hadn’t moved a milimeter.

So, now that PDA’s are allowed at church, what’s next?!

:-)

1. The approval from TRICARE FINALLY came down and I have my surgery date.

2. A whole day at the house with nowhere to go!

3. No one was hurt when Bryan’s brakes failed Wednesday.

4. Bryan doesn’t have to go on the TDY (that overlapped my surgery) and is training someone else instead.

5. My white blood cell counts are still staying level (up to 21.5 from 21.4 the last 2 times), so therefore my CLL is not progressing rapidly at this point.

miscellaneous Monday

June 23, 2008

Today, I am scattered…so therefore my post will be too :-)

  • Gifted Testing x2 – Bright and early, this morning Jacey had her second round of gifted testing. Why Florida requires so much is beyond me, but such is life. If you remember, last time, she made a 134 which is considered gifted. She had to make a 127 to even get to this second round of testing. Today, her rough score was a 135. It still needs to be verified but in the 10 or so categories involved in the test, she scored average in 1 and the rest were above average or superior. We’ll will get the verified score in the mail in a few weeks and then will meet with the guidance counselors at her new school, the week before school starts.
  • Hep A – After Jacey’s testing, we headed over to the hospital to get her last hepatitis A shot. She was due Saturday, so I was attempting to get her in at the first available time, only to find out immunizations was out of the hep A?!? Last week when I was in the clinic for my allergy appt, they were out of the DTaP. How in the heck are they OUT of a vaccination?? Obviously someone isn’t doing their job. Supposedly, they will have more by Thursday when we go back up for my oncology appt…we shall see.
  • Endometrial Biopsy – Today was also my endometrial biopsy. It was supposed to be last week but I had to reschedule because last week Bryan was night flying and his bosses…well, let’s just say they aren’t on my good list lately. I was really dreading this, but like my bone marrow biopsy, it was no big deal. I took a couple and Motrin before I went in and there were only two moments I even needed to close my eyes. I lightly cramped for about an hour afterward but that is it. My results should be back in 2-3 weeks, so if you could say a prayer for me, I would really appreciate it.
  • New Purse – After my biopsy, we had a bit of time before we needed to get back to Jacey and Miss S, her babysitter, so we stopped by the BX. We didn’t truly need anything but I have been itching for a new purse. I *just* got a new one about 2 months ago when I went in search of a summer purse. I found a lime green one that I loved and bought. Since then though, I realized it was not the best choice. It can’t go up on my shoulder and with my lifestyle it really doesn’t work well. I am constantly holding someone’s hand, so it has to go in the other and then my hands are tied :-). I usually have pretty good purse luck at the BX, so I headed to that section (about the only luck I have at the BX). Browsed and found a few that would do but one that I kept going back to. I kept putting it back though because of the price. Bryan finally told me to buy it…I’m not sure if it was because he could see I really liked it or because he was looking for an escape after being drug round and round the purse section about 5 times. I’d place my bet on the latter. Isn’t it purdy??

  • cont. – Standing there though today, made me realize I have a purse fetish. If I would have randomly seen this purse instead of going to look for one, I STILL would have probably came up with some reason to get it…LOL! Reminds me of my friend E and her *proverbial brown purse* fetish…she even made a LO about it which was just adorable!
  • SYTYCS Week 3 – So, Jen and I didn’t make it to week 4. After seeing the week 4 challenge, I can’t say I am heartbroken over it…LOL! I love working with Jen, she’s the coolest. Here is my week 3 layout now that I can share. (sidenote: I love you all the numbers is a saying that Jacey came up with a year or two ago. It stayed our special thing for a long while and I miss hearing it.)

dining room redo

June 22, 2008

Ever since we moved, I have wanted to redo the dining room. I haven’t been fond of my table and chairs for years but at the base house, at least it was hidden around a corner. Here, it is right out in the open and I am growing to dislike it even more every time I pass by. I also aren’t extremely fond of the sage green paint below the chair rail.

While I haven’t decided yet, whether to go with a Paris or Asian theme, we did decide on a paint color and new dining set. We also plan to replace the light fixture, but I haven’t found one I like in my budget yet.

Here is the dining room before…looking in from the living room…

Here is the paint color we decided on for below the chair rail…Valspar Cut Ruby…

And here is a quick (ie. sloppy) photoshop version…

Of course, the paint won’t be quite that bright. It is a satin finish and the wall is rice paper so there will be texture and shadows (unlike my flat photoshop work).

The hardest part of this whole process though was finding a table. We wanted either a counter height or pub table. I have been looking off and on but hadn’t found anything. Saturday, we went in search again. First we stopped by the BX…found one table I fell in love with…slightly too big and WAY out of my budget. Found another we like, but they were out and there were 17 people on the waiting list already…oy. Next we headed to Target. The one there was okay but alas none in stock either. Stopped at Rooms & More…there were a few there that I liked, so I got the prices and models. Looked online at about 900 million other ones after we got home. We finally found one that Bryan and I both love.

The wood, will match the furniture in our living room and the black will match our couch and accent pieces. YAY! Now just to find the cheapest place to purchase it (that is reputable) since i found it on several websites.

I’ll be sure to share pics once it is all finished!

27. Shave my legs 3 times a week for 3 months. (12/12)

LOL!

See the rest of my list here…

2. A cell package with lots of minutes, because after this week and my 18+ different phone calls with medical personnel I need them!

3. VBS was a grand success but now it is over (it is a madhouse at work during VBS).

4. Wonderful people that listen to me on rough days and celebrate with me on good.

5. Sunshine…it is amazing how it helps the mood!
